Lithuania's TEO Chooses Widevine to Protect "Gala" IPTV Service

LONDON — Widevine® Technologies, the world’s leading provider of downloadable content protection, forensic watermarking and digital copy protection solutions, today announced that TEO LT, AB has selected Widevine Cypher® to secure delivery of premium broadcast and video-on-demand content for its GALA IPTV service. This is the first multi-screen IPTV deployment in Lithuania providing TEO a distinct competitive advantage over traditional cable and satellite deployments.
As the largest Lithuanian broadband Internet access and voice telephony services operator, TEO provides integrated telecommunications, IT and TV services to residents and businesses. Having launched GALA IPTV services in a highly competitive market served by more than 50 cable, satellite TV and telco providers, it now offers hundreds of video-on-demand films, 52 channels including sports packages, Virtual Cinema and games services to more than 20,000 subscribers.

Widevine, in partnership with Ericsson, the systems integrator leading the project for TEO, and Motorola, supplier of the set top boxes, offer a tightly integrated and highly scalable IPTV platform.
