ALi and Irdeto Join Forces to Enable Robust Media Protection with Certified STB Chipsets

TAIPEI, Taiwan and HOOFDDORP, the Netherlands — ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) chipset provider, today announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Irdeto, a world leader in digital platform security, achieving certification to integrate Irdeto’s powerful security solutions on its latest generation chipset offerings. By joining forces, ALi and Irdeto will provide pay TV operators and content owners flexible, renewable and scalable security solutions to stay ahead of evolving security threats.

Security of premium digital content is a key factor for pay TV business. Irdeto offers a suite of media protection solutions to secure content distributed over broadcast, IPTV and OTT networks. The comprehensive collaboration between ALi and Irdeto ranges from integration of Irdeto’s media access and management solutions including card based and cardless Conditional Access solutions, DRM, home networking security to consumer set-top boxes, all enabled on ALi SoC, a hardware root of trust. The partnership delivers robust security that the pay TV industry can rely on to protect their digital assets and a wide range of business models.

This agreement will support chipset certifications to address different market requirements, including hybrid deployments and HEVC enablement to meet the needs of pay TV operators to maximize bandwidth capacity, thus enabling cost savings and increasing profitability. Collaboration efforts are ongoing and will extend to future developments on both companies’ roadmaps.
