Stofa selects VisualOn QoS for multiscreen OTT

Stofa Selects VisualOn to Manage and Deliver High-Quality Service for Its Over-the-Top (OTT) Deployments Across Multiple Platforms

SAN JOSE, Calif., — VisualOn, Inc., a multimedia software company that enables scalable, cross-platform media playback for global streaming media brands, today announced Stofa has selected the company to provide its WebTV OTT Player with the ability to manage QOS on end-point devices using its VisualOn OnStream® Analytics software. Stofa, the second largest cable TV and triple play operator in Denmark, and a subsidiary of the country’s third largest energy supplier, SE, provides a broad selection of television and pay-TV offerings, high-speed broadband, and telephone services to its customers. Some 475,000 households are connected to its IP backbone out of 600,000 customer homes. The two companies have been working together since December 2014 when Stofa selected VisualOn to power its streaming media application, WebTV. Since then, Stofa has continued to expand on the service by adding more platforms and offerings.

The WebTV OTT Player enables Stofa’s cable users to view a complete mirror of channels and interactive possibilities of the STB solution, both in and outside of the home. By extending VisualOn’s OnStream® Analytics, Stofa can access in-depth information on the player’s performance and viewing experience. The information not only helps to identify problems with the device but also with the CDN, enabling Stofa to take proactive measures by performing device calibration and directly addressing problems in the CDN to improve customer satisfaction. Stofa’s customers can now enjoy high-quality, live TV streams and recorded shows on all connected Web, iOS, and Android devices, anywhere and at any time.
