Zoran Powers COSHIP's New Family of China Cable Set-Top Boxes

Bi-Directional Broadcast Services Enabled for Cable Operators

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced that its SupraTV® processor powers a new family of China Cable set-top boxes from COSHIP Electronics Co., Ltd., a well-known supplier to regional cable operators.

Zoran and COSHIP will be demonstrating the COSHIP China Cable set-top box model N1600C, with bi-directional broadcast capabilities, in Hall 1B, Zoran’s Booth B164 and COSHIP’s Booth B111 at the China Cable Broadcasting Network (CCBN) 2008 conference held this week in Beijing. Bi-directional support is important for cable operators as it enables additional value-added services such as IP-delivered content and also additional public service information. As a result, demand for bi-directional cable set-top boxes is increasing significantly in China.

COSHIP’s Zoran-based cable set-top boxes feature: Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) – cable and MPEG2-compliant audio and video decoding; a seven day Electronic Programming Guide (EPG), multi-language On Screen Display (OSD), cable channel autoscan, DVB-subtitles, OSD Teletext decoding, software updates via over-air-download and serial port. They also support composite + s-video outputs, stereo audio and audio output via S/PDIF, infra-red remote, RF input and loop-through. COSHIP’s China Cable set-top boxes also support the most popular conditional access and data browser software and integrate IP QAM, Ethernet, and other bi-directional cable services.
