Thursday, March 20th, 2008
LEIPZIG — Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) and PrimaCom AG, a leading German CATV operator, today announced their IP TV cooperation in Germany. Having successfully supplied the Leipzig Fair and the Congress Center Leipzig with IPTV solutions, PrimaCom now will be able to expand its IP TV activities yet more intensively in this area.
Together with Motorola, PrimaCom intends to push the use of hybrid IP/DVB-C set top boxes in German cable networks. Motorola/Kreatel, which as one of the first producers used an especially customized Linux on the IPTV set top boxes, has a long experience in this area and worldwide successful distributions. The purpose of the cooperation should be to customize the IPTV products even more intensely to the requirements of the German cable market and hence to accelerate the successful penetration of IPTV in this distribution medium.
