Thursday, December 15th, 2016CES 2017: Swisscom Innovates in Customer Services with SoftAtHome
- SoftAtHome’s SOP powers Swisscom’s latest Home Gateway Internet-Box 2 for improved user experience of home Wi-Fi and increased speed
COLOMBES, France — SoftAtHome (Venetian suite 30-230 at CES 2017), a software provider for operator CPE devices enabling convergent services for the digital home, announced during CES that SOP (SoftAtHome Operating Platform) powered Swisscom’s launch last November of exciting new subscriber services including Internet Booster (DSL +LTE bundle) for those with restricted bandwidth, new ways to ensure the best possible Wi-Fi experience at home and increased bandwidth thanks to G.Fast technology.
The Swiss incumbent operator has just launched these innovations for its latest home gateway, the Internet-Box 2. Swisscom’s Internet-Box gateways are all powered by the same SOP platform from SoftAtHome. By unifying all software the operator can launch targeted and innovative features on its complete product line at a much-reduced OPEX level. Moreover, SoftAtHome enables Swisscom to deliver on its key customer engagements of speed, reliability, simplicity, security and mobility.
To ensure a better home Wi-Fi quality of experience, Swisscom Internet Box 2, now embeds seven antennae and is powered by SSW, SoftAtHome’s Smart Wi-Fi solution. This solution delivers the best Wi-Fi quality of experience thanks to the new “11ac Wave 2” Wi-Fi standard that brings improved speeds, a wider Wi-Fi range and a better overall quality of service. SOP uses G.Fast technology to bring transmission rates up to 500 Mbps to the Internet-Box 2 on existing copper infrastructure.
“Thanks to SoftAtHome’s team and its SOP platform, we have been able to launch our new Internet-Box 2 gateway in a timely manner with appealing new services,” said Mr. Dirk Wierzbitzki, Head of Products and Marketing and member of Swisscom’s Executive Board. “SOP’s flexibility as a digital home platform made it easy for us to deploy innovative subscriber-facing features to our Internet-Box gateways with reduced OPEX.”
“Swisscom has placed its trust in our technology for four years now and we’re delighted to contribute to the launch of the innovative Internet-Box2,” said Frédéric Maizeret, CEO of SoftAtHome. “Swisscom is an agile operator constantly deploying new advanced services and features and we’re proud to play our part enabling this.”
Visitors at CES in Las Vegas this January will be able to get an exclusive ‘invitation-only” demo to experience new SOP8 features such as SoftAtHome’s Smart Wi-Fi and see the actual Internet-Box 2 by Swisscom. Other demos will include the Livebox 4 by Orange and an immersive 360° TV experience.
