Telenor Myanmar, Huawei and WowBox launch new video streaming application for the Myanmar market

YANGON — Telenor Myanmar, in cooperation with Huawei and WowBox, has launched a new video streaming application intended to leverage each parties’ capabilities in innovation, network and technology. The Android application is named WowPlay, and is now exclusively available for Telenor customers.

“Telenor Myanmar subscribers love music and video, and today we are proud to add WowPlay to the list of our ever-growing digital entertainment services – ensuring our customers can enjoy their preferred movies, series, songs and artists using the country’s best network. Together with Huawei, we have worked on this project for over a year to be able to offer our customers a unique and improved video experience. Based on early feedback, we feel confident that we have clearly heard our customer’s needs and now we will put this to the test with our new streaming application,” said Joslin Myrthong, Chief Marketing Officer of Telenor Myanmar.

“With WowPlay we are aiming to be the user’s desired choice when they quickly want to find good quality, localized videos during their free time. Users can watch on-the-go, or download to watch offline later. What is WowPlay?

In WowPlay users can find a range of short, medium and long videos so they can watch what they want, anywhere, anytime. Users will find thousands of hours of short clips, series’ and movies from Myanmar, Thailand, China and Hollywood and much more. WowPlay is intended to offer Telenor Myanmar customers who might be taking their first steps into video streaming a way to enjoy new and familiar content in a worry-free environment. WowPlay will be filled with new videos on a daily basis.

Customers won’t need to pay an access fee to watch most of the content and there will be a VIP charge for daily, weekly or monthly subscriptions.

Why is WowPlay unique

WowPlay is super easy to use and simple to navigate. Users can search for videos in Myanmar language and high quality subtitles in local language are available for most international content. WowPlay users can create a personalized favourite video list. Additionally, users can download a selection of their favorite videos for offline watching. Users will also get notified about how much data is used to help users control their usage.
