Unitymedia subscriber take-up in new services continues

COLOGNE — Unitymedia, Germany’s second largest cable-based media and communications services provider, and its subsidiary arena, today announced results for the quarter ended March 31, 2008.
As previously announced, the strong momentum of new services subscriber growth continued into the first quarter of 2008 with Digital TV Pay, Internet and Telephony RGUs growing to a total of 1.1 million new services RGUs at March 31, 2008 or 71% growth on prior year.

Revenue from the Digital TV Pay business increased 13% year on year to €14.4 million, or 7% of total cable segment revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2008, reflecting the take up of digital cable pay television offerings following the introduction of the integrated Unitymedia brand in the summer of 2007 and the increased conversion to pay TV from the growing basic digital access customer base.
