FreeCast Deal with ROKiT USA Launch Highlights SmartGuide Tech

  • Rolling out to several Cable/DSL ISP’s, ROKiT will be the handset manufacturer to offer video service through FreeCast’s SmartGuide Content Aggregation Technology

FreeCast has long touted private label versions of its SmartGuide as a cost-effective, monetizable solution for bandwidth operators that don’t currently provide pay television services. The company has worked with rural telcos and fixed bandwidth providers, and is now announcing an agreement with its first mobile handset manufacturer ROKiT. ROKiT offers not just a connection to a better world, but a gateway to mobile innovation that goes beyond talk, text, and entertainment bundles.

Through this licensing deal, ROKiT will provide its customers with access to ROK TV, a branded version of FreeCast’s SmartGuide, a library of over 500,000 television episodes, movies, streaming channels, live events, music videos, and more, with both free and premium options available. “We’re delighted to launch this latest version of ROK TV as this development further enhances the value we provide to our ROKiT customers across the United States,” said Michael Jones, CIO of ROK GROUP.

FreeCast’s CEO William Mobley explained the significance of this partnership with an innovative handset manufacturer. “Television isn’t something that comes into your home via a cable anymore. If you look at the younger generation, they’re watching more video on their phones and tablets than conventional television, by far. Our SmartGuide integrates content from around the web into a true wireless TV service available on all devices. That’s what we’re saying with ROKiT today: yes, you can take your TV service with you in your pocket.”

New and current ROKiT customers will receive a message inviting them to download and use the new app, which will be available in the ROK Media Bundle at no cost, included with their ROKiT devices. Unlike traditional pay-TV, FreeCast’s service is a ready-to-deploy solution, even for smaller-scale and wireless bandwidth operators. “At ROK we create a unique network of vital services that make communication, health, security, and entertainment as easily accessible as possible. To provide people with all the resources they need to improve their health, security and overall quality of life,” said Jonathan Kendrick, Chairman of ROK GROUP.
