SAN MATEO, California — Entone, Inc., the IPTV connected home company, and Minerva Networks, the leading provider of open IPTV services management platforms, today unveiled their whole-home digital video recorder (DVR) solution which they will be demonstrating at NXTComm in Las Vegas (June 17th – 19th).

Entone is highlighting the immediate availability of their award-winning and field-proven Hydra™ HD IP video gateway with whole-home DVR that is integrated with Minerva’s iTVManager middleware platform.

Entone’s Hydra HD IP video gateway allows service providers to offer advanced IPTV services, such as whole-home DVR, throughout a subscriber’s home using existing in-home coax cabling and without requiring a set-top box at each television set. With Hydra HD users can independently record, pause, play, rewind, and fast-forward live or recorded programming from any TV in their home network.

“To be competitive in this dynamic market, it’s important for operators to get new revenue-generating services to market as soon as possible,” states Ian Jefferson, VP of Business Development at Entone. “By leveraging our close partnership with Minerva Networks, we’re able to offer a multi-stream IPTV solution with whole-home DVR capabilities that is ready to be deployed.”

The whole-home DVR solution from Entone and Minerva enables service providers to reduce their video distribution network deployment costs while offering users added benefits and viewing flexibility. With whole-home DVR, users can access recorded content and enjoy simultaneous recording and playback from any TV in the home with just a single device. This is in stark contrast to other DVR solutions that only allow recording and playback from the TV set that the DVR is connected to.

“Operators want to use the existing in-home wiring infrastructure in order to reduce their IPTV deployment costs,” stated Jean-Georges Fritsch, COO at Minerva Networks. “Entone’s Hydra extends the DVR functionality among televisions throughout the home without requiring additional cabling or set-top boxes, driving down costs while enabling a differentiated customer experience and additional service revenue opportunities.”

The Entone Hydra HD IP video gateway and whole-home DVR demonstration can be seen at the upcoming NXTComm show in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 17th – 19th at the Entone booth (#SU-8104) and at the Minerva booth (#SU-6823).
