Tuesday, June 4th, 2019
Brazilian telecoms provider, Oi, has announced the launch of a streaming set-top box (STB) based on Android TV. The “Streaming Box” will hit the market in July. Built in partnership with Elsys, the device has already been approved by telecom regulator, Anatel, and includes the operator’s own online video platform, Oi Play, as well as services such as Netflix, YouTube, Google Assistant, free-to-air TV and other apps including Fox, HBO Go and ESPN.
The streaming box gives traditional TV owners access to smart model features. It is fully wireless and has a remote control capable of answering user’s voice commands via Google Assistant.
The STB will also be available to consumers who are not customers of Oi services and will cost R$480 (~USD$125).
