Irdeto adds client watermarking to TraceMark

New functionality enables fast integration and rapid detection of pirated streams and their origin on broadcast and OTT networks

AMSTERDAM — IBC — Content redistribution piracy remains a big threat to the media and entertainment industry and, with increasing budgets for original content, broadcast and OTT services are often primary targets for illegal redistribution. To continue to address piracy challenges, Irdeto has added client watermarking capabilities to the Irdeto TraceMark™ forensic watermarking solution. The new solution enables fast integration and rapid detection of pirate sources, making it a powerful anti-piracy capability for live content such as 4K sports.

With the addition of the client watermarking solution, broadcast and OTT operators are now able to identify which account the pirate stream is originating from and on which device. This enables them to address the unique challenges of protecting premium live content, where rapid detection and shutdown of pirate streams is critical while the game is on. This capability is also beneficial for content owners or rights holders that go direct to consumers. Combined with the existing head-end watermarking, Irdeto TraceMark now offers a comprehensive solution that meets the different needs of content protection.

TraceMark is also pre-integrated with Irdeto Conditional Access System and Irdeto Control, the multi-DRM and policy management system to help operators protect their business models on any network.
