Theora video backend for Firefox landed
Monday, August 4th, 2008It was announced at the Mozilla Summit that Firefox will include native Theora and Vorbis support for the HTML 5 media elements.
Theora is a free and open video compression format from the Xiph.org Foundation. It can be used to distribute film and video online and on disc without the licensing fees and royalties or vendor lock-in associated with other formats.
Similarly, Vorbis is an open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming technology.
