Finland - Digita testing VODvision pushTV platform
Monday, September 8th, 2008
Digita, the operator of the Finnish Digital Terrestrial Network, has installed VODvision as a test platform for introductory pushTV services.
Digita Oy, operating the Digital Terrestrial Network since 2005, will extend its range of services to the broadcasters further, by integrating a pushTV platform with the DTT network. The pushTV platform allows the provisioning of Video-On-Demand to the digital terrestrial homes. The recently installed also allows the introduction of new attractive services during prime time, which can be downloaded via the Digital Terrestrial Network during late hours which are less attractive for the viewers.
“Our clients, broadcasters and service operators, are looking to offer their customers new value-added services like virtual channels and On Demand Services. We believe that PushTV technology is important way to produce these kind of new services also via DTT Networks”, says Timo Kiiskinen.
“Digita is one of the leading operators of Digital Terrestrial Networks. By adding pushVOD functionality to their network, they can strengthen their position further. For us as a vendor of turn-key PushTV platforms, we regard the Digita project as one of the most interesting in Europe and it allows us to stay ahead in the evolving pushTV market”, says VODvision’s CEO Per Appelquist.
VODvision will be at IBC Amsterdam (September 12-16, 2008). You will find us in hall 4 stand B58 (together with 27M Technologies) where VODvision will show our complete platform for push-TV service.
