LONDON, UK — Digicel Group and mediaClass, a leading provider of end-to-end solutions for OTT (over-the-top TV) and IPTV (internet protocol television) service providers, announced that they have launched multiple OTT TV and IPTV services in 17 countries across Digicel’s Caribbean region.
The service will utilise mediaClass’ multi-tenant features, providing a wide range of OTT and IPTV channels to its subscribers in territories across the region. This includes Digicel’s SportsMax (the Caribbean’s most widely distributed and watched sports channel) as well as wireline TV services through Android STBs (set-top boxes) using a single scalable, resilient multi-tenant TV Platform.
Viewers can watch whatever they want, whenever they want, on TV, PC, iOS, and Android devices. As well as supporting multiple countries, mediaClass supports multiple products including Digicel’s SportsMax service across 17 countries and Digicel+ TV service through Android STBs and mobile apps in many countries.
mediaClass provides all the elements of a TV platform including an advanced packager, multi-DRM (digital rights management), OTT backend, CDN (content delivery network) and apps for Android STBs and other devices. Azdio, the parent company of mediaClass, developed the platform as a complete end-to-end OTT/IPTV solution that delivers TV, VOD (video-on-demand), catch-up TV, and interactive services for customers in any IP-based network. All programmes on the new platform will be available via OTT and IP linear TV with catch up and re-start, alongside VOD, SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) and NDVR (network digital video recorder) services.
Gyorgy Zsembery, Digicel Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Home & Entertainment said: “The advanced on-demand side of the services is one of the biggest shifts in our customer experience to date, and the mediaClass multi-tenant platform has allowed us to deliver an ever-increasing set of services. Through this partnership, we can support multiple tenants/regions with a seamless delivery of services across multiple product groups in all our markets. At the same-time, by offering all elements of an end-to-end TV platform, mediaClass has enabled us to operate more efficiently.”
Gyorgy continued: “The ease and speed of integration of the mediaClass platform, the completeness of the total end-to-end solution and its world-class engineering and system integration team were key decision-makers for us. The ability to help us launch the most scalable service in record time is why we see mediaClass as a strategic partner and a trusted vendor.”
Dr. Arjang Zadeh, CEO of mediaClass said: “We are delighted to partner with Digicel for its new advanced TV service across the Caribbean. Together we have managed to deliver the best-in-class TV service and features in record time and breakthrough cost base”.
He further added: “We assist with the development and deployment of next-generation OTT and IPTV services and have all the tools required to offer a quick-to-market, powerful, and affordable solution for clients of all sizes.”
