ZTE helps América Móvil achieve migration from AOSP to Android TV
SHENZHEN, China — ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of information and communication technology solutions, today announced that it has assisted América Móvil in delivering a successful migration of the set-top box (STB) from AOSP to Android TV.
According to Mariano Dizeo, End-to-End Solutions Architect of América Móvil, the company chose Android TV to provide users with better viewing experiences and services. With the help of Google’s Variant Build Approval (VBA) for operators, América Móvil has developed its latest ClaroTV based on Android TV and deployed this solution on the existing STBs in multiple countries in Latin America, successfully upgrading the legacy STBs from AOSP to Android TV and greatly reducing the hardware replacement cost.
ZTE, as a close partner of Google on Android TV and a Hailstorm member of Netflix, has helped América Móvil successfully implement smooth over-the-air (OTA) upgrades in multiple countries.
América Móvil is expected to complete upgrades of millions of STBs in the near future.
By embracing the Android TV ecosystem, ZTE is committed to driving significant TV innovations and delivering brand-new user experiences.
