Portugal - 2.1 million pay TV subscribers in June

According to Portugal’s Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ANACOM), at the end of June, the total number of pay TV subscribers in the country reached 2.1 million, or approximately 20 subscribers per 100 inhabitants.
Cable TV accounts for about 70% of subscribers, while DTH represents about 24.5%. Other technologies (fixed and wireless broadband) are responsible for the remaining 5.5% of the market.
Of the 1.5 million cable subscribers, 466 thousand or 31% are receiving a digital service.
DTH television grew 5.1% in the quarter and 18% in annual terms to reach 525 thousand subscribers, 26 thousand more than in the previous quarter and 80 thousand more than in the same period last year.
