India - BSNL launches IP-TV service in Pune
Thursday, March 15th, 2007BSNL has commercially launched the Multiplay Services for its Broadband Customers on March 15, 2007 in Pune, India. Shri A.K.Sinha, CMD BSNL inaugurated the service.
BSNL has launched these services in collaboration with MKCL (Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd.) and Divinet, who would provide the content for Multiplay Services, which at present include 100 number of TV Channels and Video On Demand Services.
The function was presided over by Padmabhushan Dr. R.A. Mashelkar Ex. DG CSIR. Padmashree Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Chief Mentor Divinet was also present in the function. The other dignitaries to grace the occasion were Shri Kuldeep Goyal CGM Maharashtra Telecom Circle, Shri T.S. Kuppuswamy CGM Karnataka Telecom Circle, Shri G.K.Agarwal PGM Pune, Shri Vivek Sawant MD MKCL, Shri P.R. Eknath ED Divinet, senior officers from BSNL, MKCL, Divinet, and members of Press and Media.
Initially two services namely IPTV and Video on Demand have been launched. Any Broadband Customer of BSNL can avail these services by purchasing/hiring a Set Top Box. Various Services which can be availed through ‘MultiPlay’ are :-

- Cable TV
- High Speed Internet
- Video On Demand
