Panasonic VIERA enables consumers to easily playback high-quality DivX® video directly on the television

SAN DIEGO — DivX, Inc. (Nasdaq: DIVX), a digital media company, today announced the first line of DivX Certified® HDTVs from Panasonic (Tokyo:6752; NYSE:PC), available in Europe. The Panasonic VIERA® Z1, V10 and G15 series is a cutting-edge 1080p full-HD flat panel digital TV that enables consumers to easily playback high-quality DivX® video directly on the television. DivX digital video technology allows consumers to create and watch content on the PC, living room and on the go.

The nine models of the Panasonic VIERA® Z1, V10 and G15 series will incorporate its next-generation plasma display panels (PDPs) called NeoPDP technology which provide better picture quality, higher efficiency and thinner dimensions. The VIERA also includes the VIERA CAST™ online content service, which will be offered for the first time in Europe.

With support for DivX video, consumers can easily playback their DivX content via the SD/SDHC memory card slot directly on the VIERA HDTV. Users can fit over six hours of high-quality DivX video on a 4GB media card. In addition, DivX content can be streamed directly from a network with a DLNA server, making it simple for consumers to playback their library of favorite videos from the PC to the TV.

“Panasonic has been a leader in adopting DivX technology across multiple product lines, from digital televisions to Blu-ray Disc Players, and we are excited to be a key feature in their new line of VIERA digital TVs,” said Kevin Hell, Chief Executive Officer of DivX, Inc. “DivX has made tremendous progress gaining traction in the DTV space from leading manufacturers such as Panasonic. As we continue to expand our ecosystem into new device categories, DivX comes closer to helping consumers simplify the video experience in the digital home.”

Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience, including reliable video creation and playback, interoperability with other DivX Certified devices and the visual quality users expect from DivX.
