MTS Uzbekistan launches Mobile TV service

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan — MTS Uzbekistan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (NYSE: MBT), has announced that the company is the first in Uzbekistan and one of the first in the CIS to launch a commercial mobile TV service. The company has launched the service after a successful technical trial.
With the new service, subscribers are able to watch the two leading Uzbekistani TV channels – «O’zbekiston» and «TV Markaz» – directly on their mobile phones.
The service runs on MTS’s 3G network.
