Cabot middleware to support Freesat

BRISTOL, England — In order to provide manufacturers’ with access to the most sought-after industry technology, Cabot Communications is extending its middleware suite to support Freesat, the first British free-to-air satellite service which provides around 200 television and radio channels, including High Definition (HD) broadcasts.
Cabot’s Freesat MHEG solution will be available mid-2009 to support advanced interactive services, including full HD graphical capabilities.
A full middleware solution for STBs, DVRs and IDTVs which will include video streaming via the return channel will be available in quarter three 2009. The DVR solution will utilise Push VOD technology to control recordings and playback via the MHEG application.
