Wednesday, May 27th, 2009Integrates Advanced Noise Reduction and Overdrive Circuitry to Improve Top-Level Viewing Experience
SUNNYVALE, Calif — Zoran Corporation (NASDAQ: ZRAN) announced that its advanced SupraHD® 787 HDTV processors are now available to qualified DTV manufacturers supplying the premium ATSC digital TV market in the U.S. The SupraHD® 787 reference design will be demonstrated at Computex in Taiwan, June 2 to 6.
“We are pleased to announce our highly-integrated SupraHD® 787 processors as a follow on to the SupraHD®775 and SupraHD®785 products announced last fall that were quickly adopted by our OEM and ODM customers targeting the North American DTV market. Zoran’s engineering and integration expertise allowed us to enhance this new product generation with Block Noise Reduction technology, LCD Overdrive circuitry and additional features that provide a significantly improved top-level viewing experience,” said Andy Gane, Sr. Director TV product line, Zoran’s Home Entertainment Division.
The SupraHD® 787 processor extends the product family’s support to higher level DTVs with Block Noise Reduction technology, which significantly reduces the block visual artifacts commonly seen in off-air DTV programming caused by varying reception conditions. The integrated LCD overdrive function eliminates the need for separate circuitry and additional memory, delivering significant cost savings to manufacturers. Both the deinterlacer and the noise reduction filter also have been enhanced.
The highly integrated SupraHD® processor family eliminates multiple components from the DTV system design by integrating the TV microcontroller, 8VSB Demodulator, Analog Video Multiplexer and a host of other functions in the single-chip solution. The product also integrates a unique dual CPU architecture that enables numerous enhanced and customizable capabilities improving the user experience.
In addition, Zoran’s high level of integration enables a more energy-efficient design, which allows DTV manufacturers to meet the U.S. Energy Star requirements.
The SupraHD® 787 processor has all the features of previous generations of the successful SupraHD® family of processors and integrates all the key electronic components needed to build a cost-effective ATSC digital TV for the premium North American market. Integrated video and audio connectivity include the following:
- Three HDMI v.1.3 inputs
- wo 1080P YPbPr analog video inputs
- WUXGA analog video input
- Three S-video inputs and four composite video inputs with 3D comb filter
- Six stereo pair analog audio inputs
- Two stereo pair analog audio outputs
- USB 2.0 input
Other features include picture-in-picture functionality and advanced video processing, noise reduction as well as improved color management and control. Cost-optimized production ready design platforms are available with market-ready DTV software and TV microcontroller software.
