Licence Agreement And Entry To Indian Market

Amino Technologies plc (‘Amino’; stock code: AMO), the Cambridge based broadband network software and systems company, has signed an agreement with Dimensions Broadband UK Ltd. (‘Dimensions Broadband’), on behalf of its sister company Time Broadband Services Pvt. Ltd. (‘Time Broadband’), which takes Amino into the Indian subcontinent and provides access to Indian tier 1 telcos.

Amino has been paid for a significant licensing contract and for an initial supply of AmiNet125 set top boxes (‘STBs’). Dimensions Broadband plans to establish local manufacturing of STBs for Time Broadband Services, an IPTV service provider headquartered in Mumbai.

The agreement provides for the licensing of the AmiNet125 STB design and Amino’s IntAct™ IPTV software stack for the manufacture and sale of STBs in the Indian sub-continent and Middle-Eastern markets. Amino will receive royalties on locally manufactured STBs and software in addition to the initial licence fee.

Time Broadband plans to offer its advanced IPTV services to customers across the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and parts of East Africa.

Sujata Dev, Managing Director of Time Broadband commented: ‘In launching landmark deployments with telecom operators with a very large combined consumer base, the objective is to maximise IPTV penetration in consumer homes. We have chosen Amino as our STB technology partner to give us flexibility for manufacturing our own products, the latest technology at an economical cost and a reduced lead time for entering the Indian market.’

Bob Giddy, Amino’s Chief Executive said: ‘This agreement provides us access to the tier 1 telcos in India, a country with a population of over 1 billion. This deal is part of our existing business plan and, we believe, validates our licensing model, enabling us to sell into large markets where local volume manufacturing of STBs is critical to success.’
