NEW ORLEANS — TelcoTV 2011 — Pioneer Telephone Cooperative Inc, one of the largest telephone cooperatives in North America, is to deploy Amino’s (LSE: AMO) Aminet A540 DVR IPTV/OTT set-top boxes as part of its Pioneer DTV IPTV service.

Headquartered in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Pioneer serves over 40,000 customers across more than 74 communities in Western Oklahoma and has been at the forefront of IPTV deployment in North America.

Under the Pioneer DTV brand, the cooperative offers up to 161 entertainment channels as part of a “quadplay” service including voice, broadband and cellular services.

The Aminet A540 DVR is a high performance HD set-top box which uses new SoC processors and recently enhanced OTT features. These include HTML5 audio and video tags to support the new generation of televisual web sites plus HTTP live streaming (HLS) adaptive streaming technology. HTTP upgrade and recovery is also included – enabling remote firmware updating.

Pioneer Manager of Broadband Services Donnie Miller said: “We have a great reputation for quality of service and innovation and we look for partners who share this ethos and commitment. Amino products have proved to be very reliable in our testing and trials and popular with our customers. Additionally, Amino has a strong working relationship with our middleware partner and they have a shared goal in ensuring we maintain our competitive edge in delivering the best and latest entertainment experiences to our customers.”

Amino Communications Director of Sales for North America Dan Carufel added: “”We have partnered with Pioneer for some time and we’re delighted that they have selected Amino’s DVR offering for their customers. DVR functionality is now becoming a must have for our customers’ customers and the A540 has proved hugely successful in meeting these needs. The recent OTT enhancement to the Aminet range is another very positive feature for operators as they seek to build new customer propositions.”

The A540 DVR is part of the Aminet range of IPTV/OTT set-top boxes which was recently voted number one in the world for price to performance ratio, according to independent analysts. The report from Infonetics Research – “Set-Top Box Features and Vendor Leadership: Global Service Provider Survey” – surveyed service providers around the world to capture their requirements for IP set-top boxes and views on 11 leading suppliers.

The company is also recognised as leading the market in its product roadmap and pricing – and performs strongly in terms of brand awareness and quality customer support.
