Reference Designs Demonstrated at IBC 2009 in Amsterdam

SUNNYVALE, CA — Zoran Corporation (NASDAQ: ZRAN) announced that NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, has certified its SupraTV® 265, SupraXD® 170 and SupraXD® 180 Processors for the secure delivery of digital content to pay-tv set-top boxes using NDS VideoGuard® conditional access (CA). Zoran is also working with NDS Group to certify these products for NDS MediaHighway® middleware.

Zoran will demonstrate its reference designs at the International Broadcast Conference (IBC) in Amsterdam from Sept 11 to 15. The platforms on display include the SupraTV® 265 Processor for Standard Definition MPEG-2 Cable Set-Top Boxes; the SupraXD® 170 Processor for Standard Definition H.264 Satellite Set-Top Boxes and various other platforms that incorporate the SupraXD® 180 Processor for High Definition Multi-format Set-Top Boxes.

“While Zoran has already shipped over 25 million units to pay-TV and retail set-top box markets, we recognize the importance of NDS security certification to pay-TV operators. As a result, we have invested significant effort in our development and worked with NDS to meet these critical milestones,” said Eric Schiff, Director Set-top Box Product Line, Zoran Corporation.

“NDS has integrated solutions with the industry’s leading technology vendors. NDS partners benefit from a fast-track to integration and certification with NDS solutions. This provides customers with open end-to-end solutions and ensures faster and easier integration with their systems. The Zoran set-top box ICs have been approved for use with NDS VideoGuard® and certification for NDS MediaHighway® driver software is under way. This gives set-top box manufacturers further choice in their product capabilities and enables them to be competitively priced,” said Peter Yaxley, Director of Consumer Devices, NDS Europe.

“NDS is the leading conditional access vendor with a global market share we estimate at 26.8 percent as a result of its engagements with major operators such as DirecTV, BSkyB, Sky Italia, Tata-Sky, Sky Deutschland, Astro, Bharti and Sky Latin America. This is an important cooperation between two leading companies to address a number of pay-TV markets that we expect to grow at about 30 million units per year through 2011,” said Ian Weightman, Vice President IMS Research.

Zoran’s SupraTV® 265 Processor integrates QAM and QPSK demodulation and is optimized for use in advanced security pay-TV cable and satellite set-top boxes using standard definition MPEG-2. Zoran’s SupraXD® 170 Processor is designed for use in advanced security pay-TV set-top boxes using standard definition H.264. Zoran’s SupraXD® 180 Processor is designed for use in advanced security pay-TV set-top boxes using high definition H.264.
