Kabel Deutschland reports 19% EBITDA growth for the first quarter ended June 30, 2007 of its fiscal year March 31, 2008

Highlights for Kabel Deutschland’s consolidated first quarter ended June 30, 2007 under IFRS:

  • Total Revenue Generating Units (‘RGU’)increase by 0.5% to 10,362 thousand on June 30, 2007 compared with 10,311 thousand on June 30, 2006. Total blended ARPU for all KDG products increases by almost 10% to €8.20 during the reporting period from €7.50 in the same period last year.
  • Total revenues grow by 9.0% to €289.7 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2007 compared to €265.7 in the prior year’s same period.
  • Subscription based revenues grow by 10.6% and reach €254.2 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2007 (€229.9 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2006) representing 87.7% of total revenues during the reporting period (86.5% during the quarter ended June 30, 2006).
  • Subscription based revenues from digital pay TV and Internet and Phone amount to €40.1 million and represent 15.8% of the Company’s overall subscription based revenues (€21.0 million representing 9.1% of the overall subscription based revenues in the quarter ended June 30, 2006).
  • EBITDA as adjusted increases by almost 19% and amounts to €107.6 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2007 compared to €90.5 million for the same period in the prior year. Included were €1.5 million one time costs related to the restructuring of the technical department.
  • EBITDA margin increases to 37.1% (34.0% in the quarter ended June 30, 2006).
    The Company posts a net loss for the reported quarter of €4.3 million (€13.1 million in the previous year’s same quarter ended June 30).

Kabel Deutschland (KDG), Germany’s largest cable operator, announced today its financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2007. These results underline the successful development of the Company’s Internet and Phone products.

RGUs as of June 30, 2007 and ARPUs for the quarter ended June 30, 2007

The number of total RGUs increased by 0.5% to 10,362 thousand on June 30, 2007 compared with 10,311 thousand on June 30, 2006. During the quarter ended June 30, 2007 total blended ARPU for all KDG products increased by 9.4% to €8.20 from €7.50 in the same period last year.

Kabel Anschluss RGUs served were 9,258 thousand at June 30, 2007 (9,600 thousand on June 30, 2006). Included in the 9,258 thousand Kabel Anschluss RGUs were approximately 590 thousand digital access RGUs (approximately 74.6 thousand at June 30, 2006). Monthly ARPU for the Kabel Anschluss product amounted to €7.73 in the quarter ended June 30, 2007 compared to €7.31 in the previous year’s same period.

Kabel Digital pay TV RGUs increased by 30.8% to 718 thousand at June 30, 2007 from 549 thousand RGUs on the same date in the previous year. ARPU increased by 11.3% to €8.07 during the quarter ended June 30, 2007 (€7.25 during the previous year’s same period).

Kabel Internet and Phone RGUs more than doubled from 162 thousand (thereof 70 thousand Phone RGUs) at June 30, 2006 to 386 thousand (thereof 178 thousand Phone RGUs) at June 30, 2007. Monthly ARPU per RGU for Kabel Internet during the reporting period amounted to €14.98 (€17.45 in the quarter ended June 30, 2006) and €26.60 for Kabel Phone (€29.26 in the quarter ended June 30, 2006).
