Insight Communications adds 14k digital subscribers in 4Q09

NEW YORK — Insight Communications Company today announced financial and operating results for the full year ended December 31, 2009.

Total Revenue Generating Units (“RGUs”) of 2,041,800 at December 31, 2009, representing an increase of 160,500 or 9% from 2008 comprising:

  • Basic customer net gain of 8,800. Total basic customers at year end were 716,400, a 1% growth in basic customers over 2008.
  • HSI customer net gain of 43,000. Total HSI customers at year end were 501,500, a 38% penetration of HSI homes passed.
  • Digital customer net gain of 69,900. Total digital customers at year end were 509,400, a 71% penetration of the company’s basic cable customers.
  • Telephone customer net gain of 38,900. Total telephone customers at year end were 314,500, a 25% penetration of the company’s telephone universe.
