ATLANTA, Ga. — Latens Systems, the leading provider of software security solutions for Pay-TV & VOD, today announced that Arkwest Communications, an Arkansas based telecommunications provider, has deployed the Latens Foundation CA solution (FCAS) to secure the its Pay-TV and VOD content.

The Arkwest IPTV packages include up to 200 channels, Video on Demand, DVR, CD quality music, on-screen customized channel guides, full parental control and exclusive local channels, including community information and weather. Founded in 1939, Arkwest has been a pioneering telco for almost 70 years. With this IPTV offering, Arkwest remains at the forefront of communications technology.

“We chose Latens FCAS for a number of reasons, but primarily because Latens has a great track record of deployments and the company could demonstrate that its FCAS security solution has the flexibility to continue to protect our IPTV offering – whatever our future plans,” says Tom May, Arkwest Communications. “It’s very important for our future competitiveness that we offer a TV service that best caters for our community’s likes and dislikes. To be able to do this, it’s crucial that all the technologies we select are versatile – this is certainly the case with Latens FCAS.”

“The installation at Arkwest went very smoothly and we look forward to securing the Arkwest TV service as its IPTV service develops,” says Dean Kashlan, GM and VP Americas, Latens Systems. “An additional important benefit for Arkwest of our FCAS security system is that it reduces the cost of customer acquisition without any reduction in security.”

Latens Foundation CAS (FCAS) is an IPTV Conditional Access System that’s upgradeable as an IPTV operation grows in terms of size and complexity. Latens FCAS features include:

  • ‘No compromise’ security – Latens FCAS is built on the same dynamic security system already accepted by the world’s top content owners
  • The scale and features provided by Latens FCAS can be progressively upgraded as an operator’s business develops. The purchaser therefore has an assured upgrade path without disruption to existing services.
  • FCAS is simple to install and support, making it ideal for sale by local system integrators as part of an end-to-end system, further cutting the overall cost of delivery
  • Latens FCAS allows an operator to select only the conditional access components which are necessary for its business, eliminating the cost and complexity of unwanted features.

FCAS is integrated with a wide variety of IP Middleware, set-top box, VOD and headend vendors, to minimize cost and risk and allowing a wide breadth of choice when selecting components for deployment.
