Finnish TV Operator Enhances IPTV Content Security

AMSTERDAM — IBC2010 — Teleste, a leading technology and engineering service provider of broadband video and service platforms, and Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced deployment of the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for IPTV network of Anvia TV, a national TV operator in Finland.

Anvia TV has a long and successful history as a pay-TV operator with its own cable TV network. As a company always keeping up with the pace of progress, it is now expanding its service selection to include new interactive services enabled by IPTV. This brought the need for a competent protection system to secure video-on-demand (VoD) as well as live TV services delivered over IP.

“Together the Anvia group offers unparalleled, all-inclusive services for businesses and corporations and carriers,” said Mrs. Pirjo Haavisto, content director of Anvia TV. “Among our strengths are proximity, reliability and customer-oriented services, which are highly appreciated by our customers. Verimatrix’s software-based approach to content security and its track record in IPTV easily met the operator’s requirements and therefore was an obvious choice for Anvia TV.”

By selecting Teleste to deploy, integrate and support VCAS for IPTV, Anvia TV can ensure a smooth launch with the new system and secure reliable operation. This platform also enables the operator to easily transition to a hybrid network architecture to more easily and cost-effectively offer multi-screen services in the future.

“This is again a proof of Teleste’s successful strategy of being an end-to-end solution provider capable of delivering and managing all building blocks of a cutting-edge cable TV system. Over the past decade, we have developed extensive skills and vast knowhow all in benefit of the customer. This was well recognised by Anvia TV and a major inducement in their decision making,” stated Mika Kavanti, business director, Teleste Corporation.

VCAS for IPTV is the global number one deployed content security system for IPTV and has a particularly strong presence in Europe. VCAS for IPTV is a downloadable system that allows for renewable security software to be updated as required to combat piracy attacks. Furthermore, it ensures complete transparency for legitimate content consumption while significantly raising the level of protection against sophisticated forms of piracy.

“This is a great deployment for Verimatrix to enter Finnish cable TV market,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “We are thrilled to provide revenue security for Anvia TV and also pleased to have Teleste as our sales and engineering partner to provide the solution to Anvia TV.”
