Star DTV connects 200,000 in East Africa

East African digital TV service provider StarTimes is reaching around 200,000 subscribers in the region according to its chief marketing officer in Uganda.
Chinese-owned Star Times Software operates its Star DTV service in around 10 African countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Services in Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania began in March this year and have reached 30 thousand, 8 thousand and 100 thousand subscribers respectively.
A service began in Rwanda in 2006 and has around 30,000 subscribers. The remainder are largely accounted for by Star’s joint venture with KBC in Kenya.
