Anatel opens up Brazil's cable TV market
Thursday, November 25th, 2010
Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (Anatel) has decided to remove regulatory restrictions that prevent new entrants from emerging in the country’s cable TV market. The limits on how many cable TV providers can operate in a region will be removed and the fee for obtaining a licence will be reduced to a nominal administrative charge.
At the same time Anatel has asked the government to remove legal restrictions that prevent telecom operators from entering the pay TV market.
