GUANGZHOU, China — 2011 International CES — The Digital Interactive Interface for Video & Audio™ (DiiVA™) consortium announced today that global TV manufacturer TCL has decided to broadly deploy DiiVA technology across its 2011 smart TV product lineup in a move to further enhance its position as an innovator and leader in the rapidly growing Chinese TV market and beyond. DiiVA is a newly established technology standard that is supporting the next-generation home entertainment architecture.

Through a unique combination of uncompressed digital video and audio, high-speed data, power, networking, device addressability, command and control protocol, and middleware and application layers, DiiVA provides a new, personalized home entertainment experience enabling consumers to easily find content and enjoy it on any display throughout the home–freeing them from having to remember what content resides on what source device, and how that source device is connected to the TV.

Dr. Yan Xiaolin, vice president of TCL Group and president of TCL Corporate Research, said, “As a leader in the Chinese TV market and major player in rapidly growing TV markets around the world, TCL believes that the next wave of TV innovation beyond 3D and connected TVs will center on the smart TV. We intend to leverage the next-generation user experience and TV-Smartphone interaction made possible by DiiVA to promote our lineup of smart TVs as we compete on a global basis.”

Secretary General of the China Video Industry Association (CVIA), Ms. Weimin Bai, added, “CVIA has been a strong supporter of DiiVA as a differentiating technology to enable Chinese brands to compete globally, and we are pleased that TCL has chosen to adopt DiiVA across its smart TVs. With TV users increasingly turning to the Internet as a new source of entertainment content for their networked CE devices, companies such as TCL are positioned to lead the industry with new features and to win a new generation of consumers, both in China and worldwide.” Ms. Bai also revealed the decision to make DiiVA the smart TV interface standard at the recent smart TV subcommittee.

DiiVA Licensing LLC will showcase DiiVA products from TV manufacturers in its booth (#21225, LVCC South Hall) at the upcoming 2011 International CES show in Las Vegas, NV; TCL will also showcase TV, multimedia and communication products in its own CES booth (#10631, LVCC Central Hall).
