Less than One Year Following its Acquisition of NXP’s Home BU, Trident Delivers the HiDTV Pro-SX5 that Features the Best Technologies from both Companies

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRID), a leading provider of set-top box and TV semiconductor solutions, today introduced a new system-on-chip (SoC) family designed for the next generation of Web-enabled TVs. The first family member, the HiDTV Pro-SX5, delivers an unparalleled user experience while watching movies, accessing content in the cloud or connecting to social networks. Trident will be demonstrating the HiDTV Pro-SX5 during the CES show this week and highlighting its powerful CPU, OpenGL 2.0 capable 3D Gfx core and exceptional picture quality engine that has become a trademark of Trident.

This new 120Hz SoC is the first Trident product offering to combine the core DTV and audio technologies that Trident has pursued relentlessly through its own internal development and its strategic company and product acquisitions.

“The new and stronger Trident has invested significantly in new technologies and IP, and this new product culminates those efforts and demonstrates our success in integrating the best of the best onto a single and powerful TV platform,” said Sylvia Summers, CEO of Trident Microsystems, Inc. “Our goal is to drive the evolution of the extended connected home and we are uniquely positioned with the underlying technologies that can bring the most exciting consumer experiences and connectivity into the home.”
