The company integrates Quantenna’s Wi-Fi 5GHz 4×4 MIMO technology to enable high-quality multi-screen video distribution in the home

ISSY-LES-MOULINEAUX CEDEX, France — Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH) announces it is supporting the delivery of high-quality video over wireless within the home, thanks to the integration of Quantenna Communications’ Wi-Fi 5GHz 4×4 MIMO technology into its next generation set top boxes and access gateways. They will provide users with exceptional viewing comfort for all HD video content in the home – wirelessly, without interruption and on all screens simultaneously.

Technicolor plans to incorporate Quantenna technology into its new VDSL home gateways, a dedicated Wi-Fi access point, HD DVRs and Media Servers, as well as within Technicolor’s all-in-one Media Gateway platform.

Equipped with this technology, Technicolor’s new products will eliminate the interruptions or quality degradations that can occur during HD video playback by greatly reducing the data losses that can take place with less sophisticated techniques. Tests conducted by Technicolor have shown that the Quantenna solution offers IP packet losses of less than one in 100 million. The result is a level of reliability and performance providing multi-device viewing that fully satisfies the expectations of consumers who are connected with multiple home devices.

“The choice of this state-of-the-art technology demonstrates once again the company’s commitment to digital distribution in all forms,” said Pascal Portelli, Senior Vice President, Solutions Strategy and Portfolio Management of Technicolor Connected Home Division. “We are dedicated to delivering the best possible quality, with respect to video content and help our clients offer a constantly enhanced viewing experience to their customers. Our expertise in system and antenna designs perfectly complements Quantenna’s know-how to bring best-in-class solutions to market.”

“Quantenna is pleased to partner with technology leader Technicolor, who shares a similar vision to deliver exciting new HD multimedia experiences for consumers in homes,” said Lionel Bonnot, Vice President, Sales and Business Development with Quantenna. “Our 5GHz product is truly changing the way consumers watch and distribute multimedia HD or 3D TV in the home. We solve today’s challenges of delivering reliable Wi-Fi coverage by eliminating dead spots and ensuring whole- home coverage providing the ultimate TV viewing experience wirelessly.”
