OCN to Deploy Cisco Videoscape for New Multi-Screen Video Experiences in Shanghai

Cisco Videoscape to Power New Generation of Networked Video Services for One of China’s Largest Cable Operators

SHANGHAI and BOSTON, MA — The Cable Show 2012 — Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) today announced it is collaborating with the leading Chinese cable operator, Oriental Cable Network (OCN), to develop next-generation video experiences for consumers based on Cisco Videoscape®, an open platform that utilizes the cloud, the network, and client devices to deliver new video experiences over the Internet. OCN, one of the China’s largest cable operators, will deploy Videoscape to enable new multi-screen video services for PCs, tablets, smart phones and other mobile devices for its customer base throughout Shanghai, China.

OCN will deploy the Videoscape platform, which provides service providers with an end-to-end system to implement TV Everywhere-like services. The Videoscape Quickstart solution, including Videoscape Media Suite, Content Delivery System for Internet Streaming (CDS-IS), Cisco Media Processor (CMP) and Cisco Digital Content Manager (DCM), will enable OCN to create new consumer experiences by giving subscribers the ability to access content from multiple devices, anywhere. Further, The Videoscape platform also enables OCN to establish the foundation needed for future capabilities, such as linear delivery to managed and unmanaged devices, Cloud DVR, Video on Demand (VoD), and companion experiences.
