Thursday, October 11th, 2012
PARIS, France & AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH) today announced it will unveil, together with its long-standing customer Portugal Telecom (Lisbon:PTC; NYSE:PT), a number of innovative Apps for the Home, a direct result of Technicolor’s technological developments in the sector. In addition, they will jointly expose how service providers can unleash the connected home applications’ ecosystem thanks to Technicolor’s latest gateways and Portugal Telecom’s innovative mindset and development capabilities.
A range of innovative Connected Home applications
On the Technicolor booth, the two companies will demonstrate how combining storage and social networking can turn all screens in the home into a powerful multimedia sharing network, accessible seamlessly through legacy social networks.
Technicolor will also unveil advanced video chat scenarios, bridging service providers’ communications infrastructure and legacy over-the-top services, to create seamless video call experiences on all screens in the home. In addition, they will demonstrate how service providers can bridge different home automation ecosystems – Zigbee, Z-wave, or any other – to deliver an integrated experience to consumers.
With its Applications’ Dashboard (which allows consumers and service providers to deploy dynamically the applications remotely on all screens), Technicolor is enabling service providers to create new revenue streams, while keeping full control of service monetization.
Michel Rahier, President of Technicolor Connected Home Division said: “The applications we will demonstrate at BBWF are only an overview of the many innovations to come to the Connected Home in the near future. We are pleased to support Portugal Telecom in developing new valuable applications in this area, and together share our experience during this major event.”
