53 million STBs to ship in China this year
Friday, November 16th, 2012According to figures on the SARFT.net web site, set-top box shipments in China will be close to 53 million this year, up 11.1 million units, or 26.4%, from the 41.9 million units shipped in 2011.
Cumulative shipments to the end of 2011 were 168.28 million, made up of 135.88 million cable STBs, 14 million IPTV STBs, 14.5 million satellite STBs and 4.2 million DTT STBs. Based on the 53 million forecast for 2012, cumulative shipments in China have already passed the 200 million mark.
More than 64 million STBs are forecast to be shipped in 2013, up 22% on this year, with HDTV taking an increasing share.
