LIME Offers the Best of TV and OTT

CUPERTINO, CA — Entone, Inc., a leading provider of Hybrid TV and Connected Home solutions, today announced that Cable & Wireless Communication’s (CWC) Caribbean division, LIME, has selected its FusionTV® solution to power the world’s first premium Pay TV service delivered over the Internet.

With adaptive bitrate (ABR) and HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technologies, Entone’s FusionTV solution ensures uninterrupted video delivery across any network — enabling LIME to reliably deliver its Pay TV service over various network conditions. By connecting an Entone Hybrid TV device to a broadband network, LIME TV subscribers can instantly access over 130 channels and stream on-demand services (OTT) via a seamless user interface.

“By leveraging the Internet to deliver a Pay TV service that bundles live content and OTT services, we can further strengthen our broadband value while also increasing our revenue opportunity,” stated Dianne Bissoon, VP TV and Entertainment, LIME. “Entone’s FusionTV solution allows us to offer a superior entertainment experience to all our customers while also enabling us to quickly roll out new services across our entire broadband footprint without changing set tops,” she added.

LIME’s basic TV service channel lineup includes programs from major U.S. networks such as ABC, CBS and NBC, sports from ESPN, music from MTV, children’s channel Nickelodeon, as well as news and lifestyle programs from Warner Brothers and BBC America. LIME has also launched LIMEstyle, its own channel for showcasing its latest products, services and promotions.

“Pay TV is an important component of the communication services bundle, and helps operators gain and retain subscribers,” remarked Aditya Kishore, Senior Analyst at Heavy Reading. “However, a Pay TV service using traditional IPTV technology is not always practical for every operator. As such, operators need to look at innovative hybrid video delivery approaches in order to stay competitive and grow their revenue.”

“The prospect of delivering premium Pay TV services over the Internet is often discussed as a possibility of the future,” commented Steve McKay, CEO of Entone. “Entone is proud to partner with LIME to make that future vision a reality today, setting the stage for other global operators seeking to leverage the Internet for the delivery of Hybrid TV services for the benefit of their consumers.”
