Spain's TV industry proposes Marlin and Playready DRMs for HbbTV
Thursday, December 13th, 2012Spain’s Asociación Española de Empresas de Televisión Interactiva (AEDETI) has proposed the adoption of DRMs from Intertrust (Marlin) and Microsoft (Playready) for HbbTV-based connected TV in the country.
Spain’s TV industry adopted HbbTV in November last year, and as a second phase of the implementation process a working group has evaluated options for content protection for the system. The working group, representing 94.5% of Spain’s TV audience, has agreed that the industry should unify around the two content protection systems to ensure interoperability between different services and to facilitate the introduction of new business models.
It is expected that early next year connected TVs will begin to appear on the market incorporating the agreed content protection technologies.
