Spain publishes HbbTV receiver specifications
Wednesday, September 19th, 2012One year after its audiovisual industry reached consensus on the use of Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV (HbbTV) for interactive television, Spain’s Ministerio de Industria, Energía y Turismo has published agreed specifications on its digital television website.
The documents define technical requirements for receivers and interactive services to ensure that they work correctly on any TV. There are specifications for terrestrial receivers, conditional access, HDTV reception and interactive applications.
A certification scheme is being put in place. Consumers will be able to identify compliant equipment via a logo.
A total of 54 companies participated in the preparation of the documents, coordinated by the Spanish Association of Interactive Television (Asociación Española de Empresas de Televisión Interactiva – AEDETI) and supported by RTVE acting as secretary of the interoperability sub-working group.
