Eutelsat chooses Wiztivi to develop HbbTV app for Sat.tv Connect

Eutelsat upgrades HbbTV user experience and expands reach to connected TVs with new app from Wiztivi

NANTES, France — Wiztivi, a leader in cross-platform video app development, has created a custom HbbTV application for Eutelsat, one of the world’s leading satellite operators. Wiztivi was chosen to design and develop the Sat.tv Connect application after demonstrating its expertise in this area on a previous project where it successfully created Eutelsat’s Fransat Connect HbbTV app.

The new app is compatible with over 3,000 Smart TV models, including both older devices and the newest screens, expanding the Sat.tv Connect service’s reach on connected TVs.

The app, which is based on Wiztivi’s DANA SaaS Framework for cross-platform native video app development, boasts a fully customized design that respects the Sat.tv Connect brand identity. It enhances user engagement and provides a seamless viewing experience across all devices. In addition, it brings Sat.tv Connect access to all the latest HbbTV features. Multiple languages are supported, including right-to-left languages like Arabic, and the app is multi-satellite capable. Users can browse “Now, Tonight & Week” views, an enriched Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and a range of Full Information Pages (FIPs). These features collectively ensure that users have a seamless and comprehensive viewing experience.

A significant aspect of the project was the creation by Wiztivi of a robust back-office system for Eutelsat, offering extensive configuration capabilities for content and marketing campaigns. Eutelsat can now segment users with a high level of granularity based on their devices and subscription status, enabling precise targeting. For example, they can promote a channel package exclusively to non-subscribers or advertise 4K content only to users with compatible devices. The back-office system also includes tools for creating channel packages or blacklisting incompatible devices. This flexibility allows Eutelsat to efficiently manage their content and optimize marketing strategies, ensuring targeted promotions reach the appropriate audience segments.
