Brazil adds another 523 thousand DTH subscribers in 1Q 2013

According to Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (Anatel), the country’s pay TV subscriber base ended March 2013 at 16.8 million, with more than 3.1 million new subscribers being added over the preceding 12 months – an annual growth rate of 22.9%.
In the first quarter, 620 thousand new subscribers were added, with satellite once again taking the lion’s share with 523 thousand net additions. Satellite added 2.63 million in the year to March 2013, breaking the 10 million subscriber barrier in January.
