ACCESS Licenses Reference Design Kit from Comcast to Provide DLNA Technology Components and Lightning Speed HTML5 Browser to Users of This Emerging Ecosystem; RDK cuts development time, encourages collaboration and establishes standardization across set-top industry

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — ACCESS CO., LTD, a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, today announced that it is licensing the Reference Design Kit (RDK) software stack from Comcast to enhance the development and deployment of next-generation video services that support DLNA Premium Video Guidelines and HTML5. The RDK cuts the development time in half for set-top boxes, allowing vendors to bring rich multi-screen viewing experiences to market faster.

The RDK software provides a common framework for powering two-way, IP or hybrid set-top boxes and video gateway devices.

ACCESS’ DLNA solution, NetFront™ Living Connect, and its powerful HTML5 software solution, NetFront Browser NX, support DLNA’s Premium Video Profile and hence also meet the requirements of the FCC IP Connectivity Mandate. This means that operators using the Comcast ecosystem can deploy ACCESS solutions to launch exciting next generation TV-centric multi-room and multi-screen services that are secure, are interoperable with other systems and moreover meet the FCC mandate for cable operators to use an industry standard solution for IP interoperability.
