MediaTek selects Discretix as content protection provider for Android smartphones

HSINCHU, Taiwan & NETANYA, Israel — MediaTek Inc., and Discretix Technologies Ltd., today announced a partnership to offer fully-integrated DRM and Link Protection solutions on MediaTek’s latest Smartphone Platforms. The partnership provides MediaTek’s customers a comprehensive range of content protection solutions ready for worldwide premium video services.

HD video with Hollywood studios approved content protection is enabling new applications and services in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific. From Over-the-top (OTT) TV to multi-screen content sharing and wireless screencasting, premium content is being shared and consumed across a myriad of devices and applications.

The integrated solution leverages Discretix’s extensive expertise and proven track record in hardware-assisted content protection on mobile devices and is fully-optimized to secure Android Smartphones with HD screen resolution. Fully integrated with the ARM® TrustZone security technology, Discretix’ hardware-assisted solutions utilize the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) of the MediaTek Smartphone platforms. The Discretix solution provides support for secure content path, output level control and has been integrated with the TrustZone Secure OS, in compliance with HD video security.
