ALi to showcase solutions for multiscreen applications at IBC 2013
Tuesday, September 10th, 2013TAIPEI — ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) system-on-chip (SoC) solution provider, today announced its product roadmap featuring solutions for multi-screen applications will be demonstrated at the upcoming IBC 2013 taking place on September 13-17 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A multitude of innovations in technology have provided more ways than ever to realize the multi-screen concept, including DVB2IP technology that enables sharing of broadcast content to any device on the home network with IP connection, DLNA that allows media content to be distributed across devices within the home network, and Miracast that can mirror display from a small screen device onto a big screen TV via Wi-Fi Direct connection without worrying about video format.
ALi has a full line of products mapped out to support all current industry standards of multi-screen video sharing, DVB2IP, DLNA, and Miracast. These are added values of software to STB products without increasing hardware costs. Furthermore, by supporting common industry standards, it gives interoperability across devices available on the market. As another added value, ALi’s software tool of intelligent manoeuvrability and interaction allows users to navigate smart functions including multiple STB/phone pairing, dynamically configurable keypad, EPG, and remote PVR using their smart phones.
Tony Chang, General Manager of ALi’s International Business Unit, indicates, “The readiness and convenience of multi-screen applications does not come without implications as services are often delivered to inherently insecure devices, introducing security challenges for protection against piracy and attack. To protect their revenue stream, content owners mandate strict security requirements that operators and STB suppliers in turn must follow.” “In ALi’s portfolio of products under the multi-screen concept, we not only offer complete solutions incorporating most industrial standards, bring added values to STB products, but we also ensure secure content distribution by cooperating with well-recognized security system vendors to design secure solutions protecting the revenue models for both content providers and operators,” said Tony Chang.
ALi’s product roadmap including ISDB-T, Satellite, Cable, and T2 platforms with advanced security will be showcased at Booth 4.C71 or meeting room BM 24 (Hall 1, 2F) at the IBC 2013.
Abilis Systems, an ALi Group company, presents headless home gateways to address the ever-increasing demand for viewing of high quality content on multiple screens. Solution for 4 terrestrial channels and 8 satellite channels will be demonstrated.
