ViXS to Integrate Latest Generation of NAGRA Security for Delivery of Digital and Interactive Content

  • Newest NAGRA-On-Chip Security (NOCS) to be integral part of overall security architecture of ViXS’ latest XCode 6400 media processor, transcoding and HEVC chip set family

TORONTO — ViXS Systems Inc. (TSX: VXS) today announces that it is integrating NAGRA’s NOCS 3 conditional access and digital rights management technology in its XCode 6400 family. NOCS 3 represents the latest embedded hardware security technology from NAGRA, the digital TV division of the Kudelski Group (SIX:KUD.S), one of the world’s leading independent providers of content protection for pay TV and multiscreen solutions. This latest version of NOCS provides a robust “hardware root of trust” to comply with the most stringent requirements of premium entertainment rights owners.

NOCS is a cross-chipset security certification and key management system that ensures consistent quality of implementation, protecting a service provider’s investment in consumer devices. In addition, the more advanced NOCS 3 moves some of the security functionality from the device to the System on Chip (SoC) which frees up processing headroom and reduced system power. In the case of the XCode 6400 family, the product manufacturer benefits from this approach as the device’s time-to-market is reduced and the updating of devices in the field is simplified.

“From the onset of our engagement with ViXS, it was clear that they are a pioneer in media content mobility,” said Maurice van Riek, Senior VP Content & Asset Security, NAGRA. “Support for our NOCS3 architecture from valued chipset partners like ViXS is crucial to ensuring that we continue to deliver the industry’s most secure content protection solutions to our joint customers.”

“We are extremely pleased to be positioned as one of the early systems integrators of the NAGRA’s latest NOCS 3 technology,” said Sally Daub, President and CEO ViXS Systems. “As a leader in media delivery and streaming there are great synergies between our two companies in advancing the delivery and protection of content across many new devices”.
