Altech Multimedia and 'yes' Israel extend partnership
Wednesday, November 13th, 2013Brand new set-top-box technology to enhance Israeli pay-TV market: Altech Multimedia and DBS Satellite Services (‘yes’) extend their partnership
Altech Multimedia, a leading provider of innovative products and services to the Global Multimedia market, and DBS Satellite Services Ltd. („YES“), the only satellite TV platform in Israel since 1998, have signed an agreement for the provision of the new generation of set-top boxes to the Israeli Pay-TV market.
This deal, which was signed during IBC 2013 by Mr. Ron Eilon, CEO of DBS Satellite (YES) and Mr. Bartolomeo Caputo, Managing Director of Altech Multimedia in Europe, is not only important for DBS Satellite (YES) in terms of technological advances in their set-top box offerings, but marks a continuous trust to Altech Multimedia whilst being joined by another technology partner, Cisco Systems, who will be providing the encryption system for this product.
This new set-top box is based on the latest Broadcom platform that utilizes the BCM7354 SoC chipset and features a single DVB-S/S2 tuner, internet data connectivity, an internal flash-disk module for controlled VOD functionality, a new exclusive box design and is powered by Cisco’s own middleware. The technical design of this new product takes into account the Video-on- Demand services that are becoming a growing part of the YES line of services, offering a wider choice of content to their customers, either to view live or off-line.
“The negotiations are complete and we are thrilled to have signed with YES in Israel, our long- time customer, to offer this amazing and powerful new set-top box,“ as Bartolomeo pointed out during the event „Combining the engineering essence of Altech Multimedia as the manufacturer and Cisco as the software and encryption driving force, once again led to a remarkable new product.”
The expected launch of the product is April 2014.
