Envivio Selected for Blink, Philippines’ First Multiscreen Service

  • Envivio Muse™ Encoders and Envivio Halo(TM) Network Media Processors Power Live Channels for Blink OTT Service

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Envivio (Nasdaq:ENVI), a leading provider of software-based video processing and delivery solutions, today announced that Envivio Muse™ encoders and Envivio Halo™ network media processors (NMP) have been deployed by Omni for live streaming of premium content as part of the new blink TV service in the Philippines. The recently launched over-the-top (OTT) video service offers Hollywood blockbuster films, TV shows and other premium content to viewers in the Philippines via a subscription or a la carte model for viewing on PCs, tablets and mobile phones.

blink TV has acquired rights to live stream several channels including sports, shopping and drama—plus more than 500 movies and thousands of hours of television shows and other programming are currently available for on-demand viewing.

“Our goal is to enable viewers in the Philippines to consume content according to their desires—viewing the content they want, when they want, and on any device,” said Joemar Tiano, CTO at Omni. “The Envivio Muse encoders provide the video quality, flexibility and performance we need in order to provide blink viewers with an outstanding viewing experience on any device. Plus, the solution can scale to meet our needs as we expand the channel lineup.”

“Multi-screen video delivery is the foundation of our business, and we are pleased to work with an innovator like blink to enable a new video delivery business model in the Philippines,” said Julien Signès, Envivio’s president and CEO. “Our software-based video compression and processing solutions are both feature-rich and flexible, to accommodate the needs of operators who want to deliver high quality video to any device, from TVs to smartphones.”

Envivio partner NERA Philippines performed the deployment and integration for the blink TV service.

Envivio Muse encoders compress and transform blink TV channels into multiple formats and resolutions with high video quality, while the Envivio Halo NMP is designed to protect and package them for each targeted network and device. Envivio software encoding, video processing and management solutions are available on Intel-based appliances, or can be installed on industry-standard blade servers for operators desiring to consolidate the headend and IT infrastructure.
