World’s 3rd Largest Mobile Operator Launches Fibre TV
CUPERTINO, CA — Entone, Inc., a global leader of Cloud TV and Connected Home solutions, announced today that Vodafone (LSE: VOD, NASDAQ: VOD) Netherlands is partnering with Entone and its systems integration partner, Divitel, for their fibre-based TV services in the Netherlands.
Vodafone, the global mobile communications market leader, continues to strengthen its full range of service offerings with telephony, Internet, and television. The Vodafone Thuis service is deployed over the provider’s high-speed FTTH network to enable an array of advanced television services, including Pause Live TV (PLTV) and an extensive video-on-demand (VOD) library from public broadcasters, HBO, Videoland, and many others.
“This is a significant step in Vodafone’s strategy, in the Netherlands and globally, to build on our market leadership in mobile communications to create a multi-service delivery platform that addresses all needs of the consumer,” said Gerard Overmars, Head of Consumer Fixed at Vodafone Netherlands. “We are pleased to partner with Entone and Divitel on this rollout due to their proven track record in Cloud TV and Connected Home solutions. Entone’s EnterLink solution enables us to quickly deploy advanced services today while also providing a flexible platform to launch emerging applications in the future.”
The deployment of advanced TV services by Vodafone Netherlands reflects a global trend for mobile operators to offer a full suite of communications services, including more and more video services.
“Teaming with Vodafone Netherlands, part of one of the world’s most innovative service operators, is a privilege we aim to earn every day,” remarked Steve McKay, CEO of Entone. “We see mobile operators increasingly moving into advanced video services, and this represents a major growth area for Entone that leverages our track record for quality and innovation.”
Entone’s EnterLink™ video networking solution offers flexible networking options for delivering high quality video throughout the home, including 802.11ac for wireless distribution, MoCA for HD video distribution over existing coax cabling, and Boxless for supporting multiple TVs from a single set-top box. With EnterLink, operators can quickly and cost-effectively deliver hybrid video services across a variety of IP devices throughout the connected home without requiring new wiring or the need for operator-provisioned set-top boxes.
