Sogecable launches Canal+ HD, Spain's first national High Definition channel

Sogecable has launched Canal+ HD, the first High Definition channel with national coverage to broadcast in Spain.

Canal+ HD is delivered exclusively through Digital+ and will be available to iPlus set-top box (STB) owners on channel 111. Canal+ HD broadcasts will begin on Thursday January 31.

The iPlus is a next generation STB decoder adapted for High Definition launched by Digital+ last autumn with a price of 395euros. This decoder incorporates advanced features including: a 160GB hard drive, which allows recording and playback at any time without tapes and without programming; a DTT receiver; Dolby Digital sound; and, four tuners that allow the viewer to watch a different channel from that which is being recorded.
